Caritas Belgica is the Belgian branch of one of the largest international humanitarian networks, Caritas Internationalis, which has 165 member organisations worldwide. It is catholic, faith-based organisation composed of three branches :
Caritas international Belgium helps victims of war, national catastrophes and migrants ;
Caritas Vlaanderen groups together federations active in the health and care sectors, as well as associations active in the social sector ;
Caritas catholica en Belgique francophone et germanophone is the counterpart of Caritas Vlaanderen in the French- and German-speaking part of Belgium.
At the international level, Caritas International Belgium helps about 60 million persons a year, focusing especially on urgent interventions during crises, post crisis reconstruction, and food security programmes, as well as a diversity micro-project. In Belgium, it helps locally with social
aid to asylum seekers and migrants, especially with assistance to unaccompanied foreign minors, and integration of refugees. Beyond this it is involved in voluntary return and sustainably reintegration of migrants in their home country.
